styling my five favourite cosy jumpers

Christmas comes and goes, I plunge headfirst into the New Year and begin to look wistfully at my favourite jumpers, feeling marginally melancholy about the limited number of sweater weather days left. I put this down to the fact that the minute the clock strikes 12:01am on January 1st, I’m convinced that spring is just around the corner. The reality of course being that we’ll all still be freezing our Loo-Lahs off until at least mid-April, so this year, there’ll be no lamenting the imminent stowing away of knits - instead I’ll be getting real and embracing the idea of staying cosy under their layers until the last hot-cross bun has been scoffed.
On consolation for the L O N G winter is that our typically chilly spring presents an opportunity to sport the same autumn juxtaposition of big sweaters with bare ankles but on the flipside of the seasons, heading toward summer instead of away from it. A point perfectly illustrated here by the styling of the very cashmere jumper that inspired this post. I treated myself to this last year as soon as it dropped via the new COS winter collection, having been looking for a (highly impractical but nonetheless extremely covetable) cream cashmere sweater for some time. It’s the softest of soft things I’ve ever worn so I’ll definitely be wearing it at every opportunity…
Here are four favourite other cosy winter jumpers and some styling ideas too…
I threw in the striped number because I think it would work really well when when incorporating a cosy cover-up into spring outfits – I’m thinking off-white jeans and Birkies to go with this one. The Beige Alpaca sweater featured is the one I bought from ARKET two years ago and the oversized grey cashmere one from H&M was purchased the year before that. Both are still going strong and they usually come back into stock rotation every year, thereby proving my “It’s A Classic!” theory.
